The North Carolina unit covers two weeks of class time (suggested) and begins with a review of federalism (how the federal government shares powers with the states) and then covers the differences (and similarities) between the three branches of the North Carolina state government and the three branches of the federal government. The second week is devoted to the quarter capstone project in which students are asked to research a North Carolina state legislator.
The North Carolina unit contains three sections:
the Federalism section explains the sharing of power between federal and state governments
the NC State Government unit deals with the similiarities and differences between federal and NC government
the NC Legislator Project is the capstone project for the quarter.
